Step 4.4 – Extra Attractions For Your Website

Summary:

Now you have spent a lot of time and effort in getting your website in a condition that you are happy with. Did you forget something? Maybe not, but there are almost always a few more “goodies” that you can use to attract more readers. Here are some ideas…

If you look over the popular websites today, you will see that many of them (including this one) use audio and video to make the site more interesting and enticing. After all, your prospects won’t stay on your site long enough to see what you’re selling if it’s boring!

We offer a very inexpensive audio setup called Impact Web Audio (we’re not allowed to give it away) that gives you the opportunity to make your own audio using the basic equipment already on your computer. You can make audio that starts when someone opens the website, or with a delay, or on demand (push a button). We do use too, want to hear it? Click on the link below and tell me what you want – it costs US$ 5.00 it’s a download (but this is a strictly manual system, so don’t expect instant service! Your payment instructions (PayPal) and afterward, the link, will arrive by email)

Video is also an easy item, but it is a little more demanding to be sure you get it right if you make your own videos. The easiest video is the work somebody else has already done and that you can find on YouTube or one of the many other video sources. Then all you need to do is add the html code (here’s where the html editor starts to pay off!) into your website’s code at the right place, and shazam!! you have video! If you pay a little attention to the instructions on YouTube, you can even string several videos together.

Here’s an example of an embedded video from YouTube:

And here is a link to a similar video, also on YouTube, but linked, rather than embedded.

This one starts in a new window – but see the difference? Did you go off to look at some of the similar videos? A lot of viewers do that – and forget your site at the same time! In any case, it’s still better than doing it on the original site by replacing your page! That’s committing Internet marketing hari kari! It’s really to your advantage for the people to stay on your site when they watch the video, so make sure that you have the specification target=”_blank” in the same html brackets as the source of the video. That will open the video in a new page and keep your site open in the background.

However, the best solution (if you think you can pull it together) is to make your own video, post it on one of the lesser-known video sites (Google seems to be getting tired of YouTube, even though it belongs to them), and embed that onto your website. That process will get you lots more SEO points when you start being worried about how to get people to your site for free! Because they are so powerful in SEO, we will talk about videos some more in future posts.

“Videos”, as you can see from the videos above, don’t necessarily need to be videos in the sense you would think of – make a recording with your video camera, etc. A video can be a slide presentation, with or without audio, or it can even be an audio track with a single picture. Use your imagination, and also, do what’s possible within your capabilities – push your limits, but don’t knock yourself out in the process. Also, don’t let the video production take priority over your website (it’s easy to lose focus here)!
